I created a file with a special character and can't delete it, can you help?

Many operating systems have special characters, called 'meta-characters', which carry special meanings.

The way to delete such an item from a shell is to surround the file or directory name in quotes, ie.

rm -r "~dirname"

If you do not have any luck just open a ticket with tech support and we can delete the file or directory for you.
